The National SOC Network is Spain’s best defence against cybercrime

The concept of the network society sounds ideal, right? With almost everyone owning a mobile phone these days, this is a given for many. The arrival of 5G infrastructure, IP connectivity, new processors and eSIMs are set to turn the world upside down.

When it comes to this technology, you’ve probably been hearing more good news than bad. However, according to police data, the number of computer-related crimes in Spain doubled between 2019 and 2022. You might think this is relatively normal, but far from it – while cybercrime has skyrocketed, the number of conventional crimes (from theft to homicide) remains unchanged, even declining in some cases.

The threat level in Spain is rising every day, and the National Police aren’t the only ones warning about it. Aiuken’s Cybersecurity Observatory and the EU Agency for Cybersecurity (ENISA) have substantiated the claim that governments, businesses, institutions and individuals across the West are now more susceptible to these threats than ever before.

That’s why Aiuken Cybersecurity is working hard to help support initiatives such as the National Network of Security Operations Centres. Promoted by the National Cryptologic Centre (CCN) as a means of uniting the public sector’s Cybersecurity Operations Centres, the National Network aims to coordinate every SOC run by public authorities, institutions and businesses, in order to improve cybersecurity across Spain.

The initiative is now our greatest safeguard against cybercrime, coordinating with other national SOC networks across Europe to boost defences and detect cyber threats using tools such as Artificial Intelligence.

Aiuken is working to promote and expand this network, placing Spain at the forefront of the fight against cybercrime. We also believe that this type of strategy will make it easier to reveal any institutions or companies posing as Security Operations Centres. SOCs mean business. They are operational 24 hours a day and require significant investment in order to keep on top of all the threats out there.
